Boss Womanswear SS17

Fluid silhouettes, loose layers and subtle structure in bold, vibrant colors are skillfully combined with the utility details of sportswear to create an athleisure collection for the modern woman.

Taking inspiration from David Hockney’s ‘A Bigger Splash’ painting from 1967, with its vivid hues, architectural lines and laid-back summer vibe, artistic director Jason Wu introduces a sporty aesthetic and functional details to the impeccable and elegant world of BOSS Womenswear for a match made in heaven.

Relaxed tailoring, perfected on the BOSS runway last season, is given a sportswear twist, with internal drawstrings, adjustable straps and color-contrast pleats making an appearance. Fabric belts are tied loosely at the side of wide-leg shorts evocative of tennis apparel, while mesh layers add an athletic touch to dresses that gently skim the body and finish at half length. Undone jackets and gilets combine form and function with oversize pockets.

This season’s key primary tones – electric blue, scarlet and forest green – provide the perfect choice for color-blocking with added impact. Distinctive cut-out dresses make a statement in bold solid hues, while asymmetrical bands of contrasting colors combine effortlessly on pared-back dresses and shirts.

Conventional tailoring has been softened, feminized and refined, and balanced with an athleisure allure, while an energetic color palette delivers an upbeat mood this season. The contemporary functionality of the pieces allows them to be versatile and easy to wear for all occasions, a philosophy at the heart of the collection.

LFWM AUTUMN/WINTER 2017 SHOW -ALEX MULLINS

British Menswear designer Alex Mullins showcases his AW17 collection as part of London Fashion Week Mens.

This season Mullins explores the world of Sunday living, inviting us to extend our senses, sit back, and merge in to your surroundings.

Mullins revisits his ongoing interest of encompassing environments and situations; with coats wrapped in early 90s VHS graphics of familiar faces, combined with plaid arm chairs covered up in blankets.

These visions of softness; bulk, wrap and twist like the innards of a broken sofa. Comfortable fabrics in baggy layers of cotton, merino, and mohair compliment the use of clean Japanese denims. Sundays indecisive mind makes two-tone denims in Chartreuse and beige, Tomato and magnolia.

Mullins patchworks ideas with a mix of decorative functionality and laissez-faire frivolity, with outerwear emblazon with pockets.  The collection sketches out the feeling of a Sunday afternoon; muted and enveloped ready to disappear.

HELLAVAGIRL BY Magic Owen

After receiving attention in British Vogues Graduate Fashion highlight report, documenting the very best of emerging talent gracing the runway that year. Helen was one of three London College of Fashion alumni to be mentioned with the report stating that these notable designers produced “strong ideas for the future”. With over 15 years of fine art and design experience Helen Woollams founded Hellavagirl in 2011. Most recently being awarded Britain’s Top Designer 2016 and with internationally published collections the past five years has been a momentous testament to all the hard-work, the exploration of vision and successful lines to date. Although in comparison we are small in stature we are big in impact – Hellavagirl, give ‘em hell.

Helens innovate, creative design process are the bones of the brand. Often cutting straight into cloth. Helen’s creations are born and developed organically after the feel of the collection is set. Fittings are far from mundane, Models dance around the studio to see how a garment works and moves with the body. Beautiful Designs For the Bold. To inspire the wearer and intrigue the beholder…….

After many frustrating years as a freelance designer where I felt i was creating  other people’s dreams I decided to launch a brand which I could curate completely under my own vision. Each piece is individual, produced and hand finished in our UK based studio. We create twice yearly Couture collections as well as a RTW line, we also offer a bespoke made to measure dress service.
