Who’s The BOSS? Jon Kortajarena, FashionTV’s Model of the Week

He’s devilishly handsome, a Tom Ford favorite, and has appeared in Madonna’s music video. Meet FashionTV’s Model of the Week, Jon Kortajarena.

It’s not often that male models reach star status, that is, unless they begin their career as a footballer or movie star; but for Bilbao-born Jon Kortajarena (full name, Redruello) he has worked his way up the model ladder, and is recognised by Forbes as one of the World’s 10 Most Successful Models, as well as landing a spot on models.com’s The Money Guy’s List.

More than looks

Kortajarena’s career began in Barcelona, when he was invited by a friend to attend a fashion show in the Spanish capital. Whilst there, a booker noticed him and encouraged him to try a modeling career. He began modelling for Spanish brands such as Roberto Verino and in 2004, at the age of 18 had become the face of Just Cavalli’s spring campaign. Since then, Kortajarena has been the go-to guy for the biggest advertising campaigns such as Tom Ford, DKNY Jeans, Hugo BOSS, Bvlgari, Karl Lagerfeld, and many more.

Described as “an icon of charm and masculinity,” Kortajarena was chosen as the protagonist for the special video version of Roberto Cavalli Men’s Spring 2012 catwalk show, which he opened at the Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan.

Best model experience

He counts working with Tom Ford for 9 seasons as one of his greatest model experiences as well as working with Pop Queen Madonna in her Girl Gone Wild music video, as “one of those jobs” he will always remember.

Am I a dreamer?

He may be friends with Irina Shayk, but Kortajarena has his dreams set on more than just a modelling career, but breaking into film. Counting Spanish director, Pedro Almodovar, among his dream icons to work with, Kortajarena has his heart set on movie making when his modelling career is over (which we secretly hope is never!)

Models WOW The Crowd At The Met Gala 2014, Model Tweets

As the ultra-glamorous Met Gala 2014 drew to an end on Monday night, we were busy following all the models’ beauty preparations and after-party antics. Though for some, like Kendall Jenner, it was a Met Gala debut, for others it was a reason to mingle with the stars at yet another glamorous affair.

With everyone from Victoria’s Secret models Karlie Kloss, Lily Aldridge, and Adriana Lima dressed in Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, and Givenchy; to Kate Upton arriving in a curve-enhancing Dolce & Gabbana dress; and Kendall Jenner taking to the red carpet in a pink Topshop gown; Cara Delevingne opted for an unconventional but ultra-sexy look, wearing a Stella McCartney trouser suit. But no matter what the models wore, they exuded beauty, glamor, and confidence both on- and off- the red carpet.

Grace Kelly: A Style Icon, & Nicole Kidman Speaks About Her Role As The Princess

She was the world’s most stylish woman, but beneath her elegant façade was a troubled and desperate Princess. As the world awaits the premiere of Grace of Monaco, a story about style icon Grace Kelly and her transition from Hollywood Star to Monaco Princess, FashionTV looks back at some of the Princess’ most iconic moments.

Hollywood Years

The talented actress began her career as a model and landed her first film role in 1952 western, High Noon; the following year she starred alongside Clark Gable in Mogambo, earning her first Academy Award nomination. Grace Kelly’s beauty and poise enticed Alfred Hitchcock to cast her as a classic femme fatale in three films, most famously, To Catch a Thief, and in 1954 she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in The Country Girl.

A Princess’ Wedding

But Hollywood aside, Kelly created her own fairytale story when in 1956, the actress married Prince Rainier III of Monaco in one of the most elegant and best-remembered bridal gowns of all time, a lace ivory dress of over 300 yards of lace and 150 yards of silk.

Of Grace’s wedding, Oscar de la Renta said: “On her wedding day, Grace Kelly gave new meaning to the word icon. Her whole look, from the regal veil to the feminine lace details and the conservative gown, made her an ageless bride.”

Grace Kelly: A Style Icon

Kelly epitomized the fashionable ideal of the 1950s with a new look that Christian Dior had brought in in the 1940s; the silhouettes emphasized her tiny waist with full ballerina-style skirts that cinched in at the waist. At other times, Kelly would opt for a classic and simple style; nothing unique, but wear it like no other.

Grace of Monaco, Cartier, & Nicole Kidman

Olivier Dahan’s, Grace of Monaco, features Nicole Kidman as Princess Grace who sparkles in jewelry by Cartier. With the film set to open the 67th annual Festival de Cannes on May 14th, we can expect an abundance of glitz and glamor – particularly as Cartier recreated Kelly’s royal jewels for the movie. Texan born beauty, Britt Maren, is making waves on the fashion scene — quite literally. The 23-year-old is the current cover girl for SURFING Magazine’s 2014 issue, she has also modeled for Victoria’s Secret swimwear and counts opening the Alexander Wang Spring 2011 show as one of the biggest highlights of her career. And, here’s how it all began…

It was a small modeling moment in Houston that gently kicked Maren’s career into gear, but it wasn’t until the Alexander Wang show that editors and designers truly picked up on the new model talent. That same season (Spring 2011), she embraced her new found fame by walking for Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Rodarte and more, before making her way across the shores and over to the European fashion weeks.

While abroad, Maren chopped off her blonde locks and dyed her hair platinum blonde to walk for Balenciaga (a true sign of model commitment). Today she can count walking for the biggest brands to include Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Fendi among others. She has also featured on the covers of Vogue Germany an Elle Russia to name a few.
